The church has some of its earliest ties to Ethiopia. The Ethiopian eunuch was a high court official of the queen of Ethiopia. The eunuch, worshipping the Lord at the temple in Israel, had a life-changing encounter with Phillip the evangelist. In Acts 8, we see Phillip being told by an angel to go to a road that ran from Jerusalem to Gaza. Phillip encountered the eunuch and baptized him. Tradition says that after that, the eunuch carried the gospel back home to Ethiopia and founded the church there, demonstrating God’s role in evangelism. In 2024, over 120 million people in the country identified as Christian. Roughly, 38-40% of the country is not Christian, indicating there are people still needing to be reached. CEDE SPORTS recognizes this need to use sport as a vessel for the kingdom. CEDE’s partnership with people in Ethiopia is taking this even further by equipping churches to use sports to spread the Gospel even further. #faith #ethiopia #mission #churches #chaplains #ministry #cedesports
